PETG Filament – Strength, Flexibility, and Outdoor Resistance

When you need a part that’s tougher than PLA and ready to handle flex, stress, or the outdoors, PETG is the smart choice.

PETG Filament

For Parts That Need Strength, Flexibility, and Light Outdoor Use

At S3D NZ, we use high-quality PETG filament from Bambu Labs and eSun for parts that demand extra durability and flexibility.
PETG is stronger and more impact-resistant than PLA+, with better resistance to UV, moisture, and moderate heat—making it ideal for clips, brackets, outdoor fixtures, and flexible workshop parts.

Printed locally in Christchurch, our PETG parts are designed to survive where others fail.

Key Characteristics of PETG

  • Tough and Slightly Flexible – Bends without cracking

  • Higher Impact Resistance than PLA or PLA+

  • Moisture and UV Resistant – Good for sheltered outdoor use

  • Higher Heat Resistance – Holds shape up to ~80°C

  • Best For: Brackets, clips, protective covers, semi-flexible parts

When to Choose PETG

Choose PETG when you need:

✅ Flexible brackets, clips, and cable guides
✅ Parts exposed to mild outdoor conditions
✅ Impact-resistant trays or structural parts
✅ Durable prototypes for real-world testing

Limitations of PETG

  • Can string slightly more during printing (we tune our profiles carefully)

  • Not ideal for very high-load mechanical parts (use ABS or composites for that)

  • Needs careful bed adhesion and printing temperature control (handled by us)

Need something even tougher or for extreme environments? Ask us about ABS or future carbon-fibre filled filament options.

Typical PETG Applications at S3D NZ

  • Cable clips and hose guides

  • Flexible brackets and mounts

  • Workshop fixtures exposed to sun or moisture

  • Semi-flexible trays and covers

  • Prototypes for field testing
